Financial aid

A system of financial aid is available to students in collaboration with the 'Banc de Sabadell'. Its main aim is to assist with the payment of this centre's course fees as well as the purchase of personal computers.

For further information, please consult the section on student loans.

Official courses: exemption from course fees

In accordance with the "Ordre de 17 d’agost de 1982" (Order of the 17 August 1982), the following will be exempt from fee payment:

a) "Second category and honorary large family" members.
b) Official educational grant holders. Other holders of Spanish Government grants.
c) Students who have obtained an overall distinction in COU or special award in 'batxillerat'.

Students with a 'distinction' in any subject will be entitled to exemption from fees for the same number of subjects or credits in the following academic year.

On no account can the number of 'distinctions' be higher than the number of subjects that students have registered for. Likewise, the total amount of the reduction cannot be more than the course fees.

In study programmes which are made up of credits, the reduction will be applied to the same number of credits as the subject in which the student has obtained a 'distinction' and will not be applied to subjects that students are resitting.

Procedure

  • Original and valid documents which accredit exemption from course fees are to be presented on enrolment.
  • Students who have applied for renewal of "large family" accreditation cards should present the relevant application form for it to be considered valid on a provisional basis. It should be issued by the relevant official organism alongside a sworn declaration for the requested category. Students should present the original or a photocopy of the renewed document to the secretary's office no later than 23 December or to the "Registre General" (registrar's office) by 31 December. Otherwise, exemption will be cancelled and course fees must be paid. If the document corresponds to an inferior category, the difference must be paid.
  • "Large family" accreditation holders who do not present their cards or documents accrediting applications or renewals, may present them within ten days. Once this period has passed, all entitlement will be lost.
  • Grant applicants who lack any of the academic or economical requirements, or fail to produce accreditative documentation on application, will be required to pay provisional course fees. In the latter case, they will have a period of ten days in which to present it and may choose to enrol prior to presenting documentation and paying provisional course fees, or to delay enrolment until such documents can be presented. However, this may have negative consequences with respect to their choice of groups and timetables.

Repeated credits:

1st time: 25% of credit fee

2nd time: 100% of credit fee

Students who have obtained validation or recognition of credits should pay 25% of a credit fee. During each academic year these regulations are only applied to credit validation which has been applied for in the timeframe established in the academic-administrative calendar, or to subjects validated in past courses which students have registered for this year.

Cancellation of registration

Students may cancel their registration during the timeframe established in the student guidebook, and in accordance with the UAB calendar.

Given the features of our centre, the following rules will be applied for refunds:

o 20,000 pesetas (120.2 euros) for general expenses (issue of documentation, reservation of a place, administrative costs), if a student cancels within the period established in the academic calendar.
o 40,000 pesetas (240.4 euros) for general expenses (issue of documentation, reservation of a place, administrative costs), if a student cancels outside the period established in the academic calendar (maximum 1 month).
o Once this period has passed, applications will be evaluated individually.
