Students need 207 credits to complete the course, in accordance with the following guidelines:

First year

  • Compulsory     66 credits

Second year

  • Compulsory     57 credits

Third year

  • Optional         13.5 credits
  • Free choice   9 credits

Recognition of activities as free choice credits

A maximum of 4.5 credits can be recognised. In accordance with UAB regulations, each centre may decide how many credits can be recognised according to its student profile.

Languages

Language subjects (English, French and German) will be taken in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • For successful completion of language subjects, the school expects students to fulfil course aims and reach "Upper Intermediate" level, which accredits they are able to:
    • Hold conversations with native speakers, at an acceptable level of fluency, using current expressions particular to the given language.
    • Participate in discussions debates or dialogues concerning subjects of general interest, expressing points of view and opinions of a certain complexity.
    • Follow the gist of conferences, debates and public speeches, with the ability to take relevant notes on the subject being exposed.
    • Write a variety of short texts at an acceptable level of correctness, using a style relevant to the context. Such texts include formal and informal letters, narrative or descriptive texts, instructions, etc.
    • Read a variety of text types, following the general meaning with the aid of dictionaries or other reference materials. Such reading texts include informative texts, expressing opinions, texts designed for consultation, texts of a literary nature, etc.
  • To determine whether students have reached the level required by the school, an assessment test will be carried out by the UAB Modern Language Service in accordance with its regulations.
    • With a view to assigning students to their correct level, these tests will be administered in accordance with UAB Language Service's regulations.
  • On enrolment, first year students can choose from six credits for English and six credits for French or German, as optional subjects..
    • In the second year, six credits for English and six credits for French or German (120 hours) are offered to further students' language development during their studies towards the diploma.
    • In the third year, English and French or German are offered as compulsory subjects, with 6 credits each (120 hours).

By the end of the course, students will have taken 36 language credits (360 hours).

Acknowledgement of best projects for each subject

The centre wishes to acknowledge students' coursework. To this end, special recognition is given to the best projects, according to the following criteria:

  • Each subject teacher should choose between one and four projects from those presented by his/her students. Teachers are free not to make a choice if they consider that the projects do not fulfil their original aims.
  • All selected projects will be announced in the school's yearbook.
  • The teacher and the centre's director will issue a certificate recognising students' work as the best project of the subject and year concerned.
  • These projects will be placed in the school's Resource Centre and will form part of its archives.
  • Among all the projects that have been selected, the teaching staff and the Director of Studies will choose two. These projects' authors will have the chance to display them during the annual meeting which the school organises with its Professional Development Programme's collaborating companies and institutions.
  • In all cases, students and participating teachers' rights regarding ownership and copyright will be respected.
